How long will the Million Pixel Image be on-line?

We've committed to hosting the Million Pixel Image for a minimum of 5 years ANOTHER 5 years - this means until at least November 15, 2010 2015 (possibly much longer). Any permanent placement Pixel Blocks you purchase will be yours to manage and/or change throughout the life of the image - there are no expiration dates, and no renewal fees EVER!

Of course, you're welcome to sign-up for one of our Short Term Placement plans, however those do come with expiration dates and yes, renewal fees.

Is there a "criteria" for being allowed to buy pixel blocks?

• We'd like to keep the nature of the image geared towards the Creative Arts industry - which really covers a very broad spectrum.

• Images containing text are highly discouraged and are usually rejected. We really don't want viewers to "Read" the Million Pixel Image.

• We won't allow obscene/offensive/adult images/adult sites or links, etc.

• Ultimately we have the right to make the final editorial decision as to what is appropriate for the site.

• If you submit an image or link that is rejected, you will have the opportunity to provide an alternative, otherwise your money will be refunded and you will lose your pixel space.
  

How long will it take to get my image online and linked up?

Please allow 1 business day for us to post your submission after your payment has cleared.

How can I get ranked higher in the Participant Listings?

Participating Artist Directory listings are sorted by the number of pixels linked and then by the date the pixels were ordered. So... the more pixels you purchase (and the earlier), the higher your listing will be ranked in your category.

Where did the idea come from?

Actually, the idea of Pixel Advertising came from a young guy from the UK named Alex Tew. He created the MillionDollarHomepage.com to generate money to pay for university. His site exploded after being launched in August 2005 – within a month he was ranked #4th on Alexa's list of 'Movers and Shakers' on the whole of the internet, just behind Apple, Chevrolet and NFL!

Alex was asked if he is worried about copy-cats/rip-offs? Answer: "Not at all. It is bound to happen (this is the internet afterall), and infact, I think it will work in my favour. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

Alex’s brilliant idea has basically given us 500 pages of search results (10,000 listings) on one page -- albeit not targeted -- and that’s where there’s room to improve upon his idea.

So what better industry to benefit from this unique marketing idea? And who better to create the mosaic-like image than artists themselves?

It was indeed Alex's brilliant idea, we've just simply developed it a little further to focus on the Creative Arts community.

TERMS and CONDITIONS

• When you 'buy' pixels you will not 'own' any part of the Million Pixel Image, but rather you are granted the right to submit an image and link for advertising purposes.

• No obscene/offensive/adult images/links will be accepted, and all material must be appropriate. The Million Pixel Image has the right to make the final editorial decision as to what is appropriate for the site.

• If you submit an image or link which is rejected, you will have the opportunity to provide an alternative. If you do not provide an accepable replacement your money will be refunded and you will lose your pixels.

• If your link is accepted and you later change the content of the linked site to show offensive/obscene/adult material then your image and link will be permanently removed and you will not get a refund of any kind.

• If for whatever reason in the future you want your image and link removed from the homepage, you can do that, but you will not get a refund and the space will become publicly available again.

• Images must be in GIF or JPEG format.

• Animated images are not acceptable - no exceptions.

• Images containing text are discouraged.

• Links must be to web pages only and begin with http://

• You must have the authority to provide the image and link for the website you submit.

• Funds must be fully received and cleared before your pixels go live on the Million Pixel Image.

• We will do our best to get your pixels online within 1 - 2 business days.
